I had a good lead on a 69SS last year but didnt have the cash, the car was for sale but wasnt heavily advertised. So I kept my fingers crossed until I got all the cash together. This past spring he advertised it and actually sold it to a guy that came up from Iowa that put money down on it but never returned on the agreed time they had to pay it off. So he put it up for sale again and this time I didnt hezitate to jump on it. So now after a search of around 12 years, I finally have a 69SS to go with my 66. The last opportunity I had was around 95 or 96 when I had the chance at one cheap. I was in school at the time and it slipped through my fingers before I got together the 1500 the guy wanted.
The car is a roller with no drivetrain, which is what I was looking for. Originally Lemans Blue with the badges still on it, 12 bolt rear, buckets and console, disc. I looked at all the tell tale signs on SS cars and everything checks out. It was originally a vynl top car and the top has been stripped off and the roof looks great, very little rust. Car was originally from Colorado and shows no major rust although I was suggested into looking at replacing the quarters. There is no carpet in the car so you can really see how nice the floors are, but, the trunk floor is rotted bad and will need the entire pan replaced. I still need to get into really evaulating what it will need.
I dont have pics just yet as I need to jockey some cars around to make room for it. But I just cant keep it in any longer. It was parked amongst a bunch of other cars and also needs to be cleared out to be pulled out of the garage its also sitting in. Looks like I will be renting a trailer in a few weekends to bring it home. Which also means that the 66 will have to sit longer while my bank account gets a rebuild first. Ill get the pics once I get the car on a trailer and on its way home.
To be continued...
Chris.

Cool! I know once I knew my 72 was for sale, it took me a while to get the cash together, then I had to wait for her to find the title since it had sat for so long.
You should just swap a cheap stock truck 454 into the '66 so you have something to drive while you start collecting money for the '69 build. Posts: 1440 | From: Dexter, MN | Registered: Aug 2004
