Last weekend I was cleaning the garage... had some things I needed to get out of my way, so I stuck them in the trunk of the Chevelle.
Fast-forward to last night... buddy stops by so I decide to take him for a ride and show him how well the car corners.
Luckily it's the same side my wife dented 3 years ago, so I only need to fix one side.
Worst part is, I thought about it right before I took the car out...
"is there anything in the trunk that could dent my quarters?"
"nope, I remember taking everything out 2 weeks ago last time I drove it... don't even need to look"

Nope, paint is cracked, and the metal is stretched way beyond paintless dent repair.

Well, now that I have to do some body work on the car, my mind is going off to that dangerous place of taking the whole damn car apart because "while I'm fixing that..."
Those dents are leading me to a stripe-change (so I can cut a tape-line somewhere and not have to clear over the roof and onto the other side)
I'm thinking factory style '69 SS stripes, but to make them look good, I'd have to eliminate the hood/deck stripes (which I wanted to do anyway)
While eliminating the hood/deck stripes would be a good time to build the custom hood I want.
Since I'm messing with the hood anyway, it would be a good time to try getting my front clip aligned better (gaps are a little tight to the rear, and the bumper sits way off-center)
Because the bumper is off center, and core support is low, I want to check the frame for straightness (I did this when I got the frame, but after things don't fit, I'm doubting myself, as all I did was "X" a few points.
Front clip will need to come off if the frame needs to be pulled at all.
If the front clip comes off, I want to smooth the firewall and eliminate the big heavy ugly AC box.
If I'm going that far, I might as well pull the LT1/4L60e and drop in the LS1/6-speed that I really want.
...all this because I got a couple dings. Posts: 1477 | From: Dexter, MN | Registered: Aug 2004

If I get Jenna's wagon electrical problems fixed before I tear into the '69 I could still have a Chevelle to drive while working on it. Posts: 1477 | From: Dexter, MN | Registered: Aug 2004

Yes. I'll be taking the next year or more to collect parts before I disassemble the car again. Posts: 1477 | From: Dexter, MN | Registered: Aug 2004
