Did you use the "It's all Derek's fault from the Hastings Cruise..." excuse with the wife!?!?
Now the chances are good there will be another 'running' member car in the club. That is unless you're going to pull the motor to drop in the 383... Posts: 251 | From: Rosemount, MN | Registered: Mar 2007

Well.... lets say it runs. Probably good enough for 80% of the people - but it needs "tweaking".
The previous owner was more of the keep it polished & clean type, and wasn't too mechanically motivated.
Short list: Intake manifold gaskets (one side blown out @ EGR passage & leaks... pfft pfft pfft) Get correct PS bracket(s) and remount pump. Timing cover seal (thing's a LEAKER!) Fluid transfusion (go to known dates/products) De-grease engine bay & undercarriage. Tune up (plugs, points, carb)
Long list: Install 2-speed wipers & washers Change dash bezel to correct '65 (has '64 in it). Get backup lights to work De-rattle the thing (man I forgot how noisy these things are!). 383/trans swap 4wh disc & steering linkage swap HR steering box swap

Congrats John. My wife and I were looking at that one when we were walking around. I hope you enjoy it and I look forward to see it at shows next year.

You ended up getting then. Thats awsome, I was concerned with the attention it got when heading out of the show. Glad to see it went to someone in the club.
If it were me, I would swap the 383 from the 64 and be done with that part of the car.
Glad to see you got it.

Price was right, and the color combo is excellent.
As I said, it was cheaper than it would cost to finish your '64. Was he willing to haggle on the price at all?

Karl.. The car's got a near perfect bench in it now, but it "tags out" to having buckets. I may be interested in some seats in the future...
I'm looking for a gauge cluster, dash harness (for gauges), and dash bezel more seriously. A console & floor shift assy would be great. A stock red steering wheel would be a plus.
Most immediately I need the correct mounting brackets for the PS pump.
Just remember, I'm now broke, so the price would have to be right!

The 383 uses '79 hardware. The 1st chassis to be destroyed by it was a '79 Malibu, so I transferred everything from the dead 267 to it on the initial build.
