Doug Hart's 1981 El Camino -- Ever since I was young I wanted an El Camino. The one I got isn't really known as the hot rod style but I am doing my best to change that. One day out of the blue my father called and said that a guy he knew was selling a 1981 El Camino because he was moving. The price for this car was $300.The car was just what my father said it was, a three hundred dollar El Camino. The body had been dented and fixed up but the bondo was starting to crack and break away. The maroon paint was fading and it turned out to be the fourth or fifth coat. The original 305 had been poorly replaced with a 350 that was on its last leg. The car had to be driven with two feet because if you let off of the gas it would die. On the good side, it had a sunroof and was a mostly complete Elky even if some parts came off other cars.
