Melody Saxe's 1964 El Camino -- Our El Camino's been through a lot the last 4 1/2 years. She's hauled our youngest son and his friends and their bikes and gear everywhere. Helped teach him how to drive (he passed his drive test with flying colors). Moved our daughter three times, my sister-in-law three times, and us once. She's hauled landscape supplies and plants, gone to hundreds of garage sales, hauled me to three housecleaning jobs a week. And, oh yeah, hauled some Bar-B-Que ?thing? up to Graham (Washington) in August 2004. This is my daily driver. She's got some nicks, chips, and parking lot dings in her paint. But her curb appeal can't be denied. She's a beauty to look at. Scott tells everyone that this was my Mother's Day present in 2000. I tell people I made him buy it for me because he made me sell my Suburban. It really doesn't matter. We both love our El Camino and aren't sorry we got it. Future plans are to do a body off sandblast, and repaint her. We're not sure if we'll do pearl white again, which we love, or maybe an original 1964 color, such as Almond Fawn, Saddle Tan or Satin Silver, with a pearl finish, of course, to really make it stand out. We'll be keeping our original red interior (possibly re-upholstering the seat as well). Maybe we'll add some ghost flames, or pin striping, etc. ... etc. ... etc. AND, all the chrome I can afford under the hood, without getting tacky. So, watch out everyone. An awesome trophy winner will be blasting out of the blue in the near future. See you in the Winner's Circle!!!
