Greg McVittie's 1972 Chevelle SS -- My name is Greg McVittie. I joined the Chevelle and El Camino Club of Oregon in 2002. I look forward to reading the Club letter every month, especially during the winter. That's when the car stuff down-time is. So I thought it was about time to pen my short story. I've liked cars all my life, and went through a few as I grew up: '57 Chevy, '64 Impala, '66 GTO, '68 442, '70 El Camino. As time passed and I married -- had three girls -- the "car" became the wife's rig and the "pickup" was mine. At this point, the 4X4, big wheels, tires became the obsession so I could play in the sand (Sand Lake only seven miles away). Then from no where a '75 Trans Am kinda fell into my hand (right price). After lots of nights in the garage and paint shop, I was cruising a Trans Am nicknamed "Baby." My wife would tell people who phoned in the evening, I was out in the garage with my Baby. The name stuck.
