Don and Gloria Johnson's 1966 El Camino -- The front end has been rebuilt. Front discs were installed with 2½” dropped spindles, and new dropped rear springs provide the stance. Flowmasters with an “X” crossover creates the exhaust rumble. The hard, hinge-mounted deck cover keeps the bed dry and secure. These and many other upgrades have taken place through the years, and I’m sure there’ll be more to come in the future. After many years of "trade mark" yellow-lettered Goodyear Eagles on 15" chrome rallies, I stepped into the modern era and installed a set of American Racing 17x8 Salt Flat Specials with lower profile rubber. Scary to do after all those years as it really changed the appearance, but they’ve grown on me. Years ago we saw a '69 El Camino with a vanity plate that read "EL69-O." I came up with the descriptive "ELYELLO" and it’s been a part of our '66 ever since. There's no way I could ever change the color even if I got tired of yellow! Our car's a "driver" and we’ve attended shows through the years in B.C. to the north, Idaho in the east, and as far south as Northern California, and all over WA And OR. We've been fortunate to take home a lot of hardware through the years, but the cruizin, the friendships we've made, and the many good times is what keeps us going to shows. So if this gas price thing doesn’t hold us back, you're liable to run into ELYELLO at a show or cruise just about anywhere around the northwest. Just don’t look for those "famous" yellow-lettered Goodyears to make sure it's us!
