Don and Gloria Johnson's 1966 El Camino -- I have always been a "car nut" ever since my teens, but I don’t have the skill or knowledge to do major body or mechanical work, nor the place to do it. So through the years I've had the heavy work done by others and still do some swapping labor for tools bartering. What started out as a mild restoration just to make it run and look good has evolved into the "resto-mod" we take to shows and on cruises today. What I found out early on was, that every time you replace one piece of chrome you also need to replace another to "make it look right." And it seems that every upgrade or modification leads to more of the same. But I don’t need to tell any of you who’ve experienced it how that works! I chose to go the "modified" route even before "resto-mod" was a descriptive phrase, which through the years has caused the "re-doing" of something that was fine before, just because I wanted to make the change. Heck, it's only money anyway! I love a "restored to stock" car, but having the option to do basically anything I wanted to do was just the right thing for me.
