Don and Gloria Johnson's 1966 El Camino -- In the spring of ’92, I’d been looking for a pick-up to restore and use to commute between our home and where I parked my tool truck, as I had just started my career as a Mac Tools Distributor. A customer had this El Camino parked out behind his body shop that he had intended to restore, but hadn’t really done anything yet. It was "pretty ugly" at the time but had potential, and it did run! So we made a "deal" to swap some tools and equipment for some bodywork and paint. The yellow color was originally chosen to match the yellow on the Mac truck, but a mistake in mixing gave me more of a custom color. A few years later I had it re-painted and added the flames and wanted to stay with the same yellow so I had it electronically scanned to match the first job.
