Debbie and Dale's 1970 Chevelle SS -- Dale and I purchased the Chevelle in August of 2002. Dale calls is "My Mid-Life Crisis." Of course, Dale didn?t complain at all. We purchased the Chevelle without seeing it in the daylight, and not hearing it run. Dale, his brother Rex, and I worked on the car for a month before we drove it. Our first show was Sept. 2002 at the Macleay Inn. After the show, we went to Schlotsky's (now the Blue Moon Café night). I remember a comment two young guys made to each other after looking at the Chevelle: "Hey, this is her car." They just couldn't believe that a girl owned the car.
We also own a 1972 wagon. After owning the Chevelle, I got the bug to have a daily driver. The wagon is in the process of being restored. All it takes is time and money right? This is year two now. Maybe by the end of summer? We have been delayed because the SS had engine problems.
The SS engine spun a rod and main bearing. Dale and his brother were tuning up the Chevelle for some fun at the Woodburn drags, when they heard the awful noise. Boy were we lucky. It took one year to put the engine back together. But, it was worth it. The car runs and drives great!!!
