Jan Vandervolt's 1981 El Camino "Conquesta" -- What can I say about my ride? That it was always planned? Had I always looked for this car? Or, did the El Camino Gods look down one day and smile at me? I like to think it was the latter! Actually, the first owner (I am the second) was a friend of our neighbor across the street, and I can remember watching him drive this pretty car over. As the years passed, Davy got sick and our neighbor started taking care of him. There were many years of this caretaking and eventually Davy told his friend that someday the Elky would be his, for all of his help. My neighbor really did not have any interest in this car (if you can imagine that!), so I told him when the car became his to give me a call. We would get on the internet, check the high blue book and whatever that figure was that's what I would pay!!! No questions asked. On April 28, 2000, that's exactly what happened. I bought the car with 24,385 original miles.
