Jan Vandervolt's 1981 El Camino "Conquesta" -- I didn't know this car exactly matched a promotional brochure photo. My dream had always been to have a rod and custom car with lots of chrome and a huge engine. While attending the swap meet in Canby that October, I came across the 1981 El Camino brochure. Imagine my surprise when the car I had bought was exactly like the centerfold picture. So, there went my dreams for a hot rod car. I had to keep this car just exactly as it was -- factory correct! Which means, a 267 cubic inch 2 barrel engine, factory air, automatic transmission and the Conquista two-tone paint job.
