Gene Bolante's 1970 Chevelle "Big 6" -- The Chevelle got me back and forth the 2,800 miles round trip to college and back home to Chicago over the next few years, sometimes reaching 25 miles per gallon. During my last year (I was on the six year program) of college, a mishap with a local mechanic left the wing nut of the air cleaner spread throughout the six cylinders. Being mechanically inclined at the time, I was encouraged by the 1970 service manual using the six cylinder motor as the prime how-to example.
