Geordie & Nicola Moski?s 1969 Beaumont -- DOMESTIC AUTOS 1969: This was my lucky day!! There were three of them. I called and went to see the closest one, it also happened to be the cheapest. After a quick test drive I decided it would be easier to restore a complete car as opposed to one I couldn't even find all the parts for. A little negotiation followed and I took my new project home for under $1000.00. I drove it until early summer 1995 and, after a fender bender, I put it off to the side of the driveway. In the spring of 1996 I figured it was time to start the project. So I went to work dismantling what was left of the Deluxe (still in the garage) and started my "to do" list for the Custom. I was getting around to assessing the interior when my neighbor came over and started talking cars. It turned out that he was an auto upholsterer and had his own business. I decided to put the cart before the horse and have the seats done first. What a mistake!! After I sat on the finished seats I was doomed to rush headlong into the next year working all the time to finish the car. The bodywork consisted of new rear quarters and some rear deck patches and a small repair to each door. The floor pan required some patching and I was able to use some solid pieces from the Deluxe. The trunk floor pan needed some serious work because the previous owners had been shareholders in a bondo and silicone company. I decided against a whole new floor because of the cost and the fact that no one would ever see it up close. Next came the unenviable task of finding solid front fenders. Now there was a chore, but I managed okay. Around this time, I sent off to General Motors for the Vintage Package. Upon its arrival I discovered that my car had originally been sold at Bow Mac on Broadway in Vancouver, and was one of only 4177 produced. The list of options was quite surprising, some highlights: L48 350CID - 300HP V8, M38 TH350 Auto Transmission, G80 Rear Axle Positraction (12 Bolt) 2.56:1, U35 Electric Clock, N10 Dual Exhaust. With the bodywork done the time to paint arrived. I chose to stay with the original colour, 1969 GM #57 Midnight Green. Unfortunately the paint didn't turn out great but that leaves me something to do next year (next year just hasn't come yet).
