Geordie & Nicola Moski?s 1969 Beaumont -- It is now 2004. This article was written in 1997 for the BC Chevelle Club SS Express (I have made some changes to its original form). The rebuild I spoke of became necessary in 1999, so I chose to have it done to factory specs. Since then I have put close to 50,000 miles on the car. Some of the most memorable miles came in late 1999 when I went on a 3700 mile road trip ( 8 days ) Including Montana, where I went because of no speed limits, of course. They had just brought in the 75 mph limit, probably just days before I got there!! After going through some road creation at the border, I was still able to find an Olds Aurora (DUTZ) to venture well over the 150 mph mark with. Idaho was all of 43 minutes! Then came the climb at the Columbia River. As I said before, the car came with 2.56: 1 gears, this translates to some incredibly long legs. Hills, especially steep ones, seem to be the most enjoyable exercise my 300 horses get. The trip finished with Snohomish Classic Car show, that was a treat. If you ever have the chance, ask Greg Kline of the El Camino Classics for the pictures of tumbleweeds sticking out of the grill. The extent of work on the car since 1999 has been limited to the customizing of the hood. The idea came to me in a dream; it follows my love for the GTO and has created many a puzzled look and consternation. While the car has received a lot of looks and some hardware at a few shows (mostly because mine is the only 1969 and sometimes the only Beaumont period), my proudest moment came at the BC Chevelle Club show in June 2002 when out of 136 cars mine was chosen by the Chevelle and El Camino Club of Oregon as their favorite of the Show. That award is by far the most special to me and has made it all worthwhile.
