[Chevelle-list] 1969 SS Spare in Trunk

The 1969 AIM shows tire valve stem facing floor (UPC 10/sheet A2).  No cap
or trim ring on spare is what I've always heard.

A couple of questions as I get ready for the spring shows;

 

Is the SS wheel spare in the trunk supposed to be mounted facing up or down?

Is it supposed to have a center cap and trim ring on it?
