Kim Cogar's Atlanta-built 1996 SS 396 is April's feature car. this super Sport features it's original 396/325 matching numbers engine with a cast-iron Holley intake manifold and Holley 4bbl carburetor. Behind the engine is the original 2-speed Powerglide and is pushed by a 3:07 12 bolt rear. The engine currently has 143,000 original miles on it and is still running strong.
The interior consists of black strato bucket seats and console with clock, tilt steering, simulated wood sport wheel, knee-knocker tach, AM/FM radio, rear mounted antenna, seat belt retractors, day/night rear view mirror, and full gauge instrumentation.
Other desirable options include 15x7 rally sport wheels with beauty rings and rally caps mounted on 225/70R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/A's, rear factory air shocks, and a nifty little tissue box dispenser with the Chevy bowtie.
Although it looks "pretty good", plans for the Marina Blue SS include a total restoration with as many NOS parts as possible. The purchase price of this car was a measly $4500. Kim was offered $6500 the next day, but turned it down flat!
